Buffet Style Vs. Fully Prepared Meals

Do you meal prep? There are so many different ways to get it done! I usually use two different techniques depending on the amount of time I have and what I have going on the week ahead. Buffet style and fully prepped ready to grab and go! I usually choose two proteins, two or three veggies, and a carbohydrate source to have as an option for my meals!

Buffet style- the nice thing about this style is all of the food is prepped but in different containers. One night for dinner if you’re feeling sweet potatoes and chicken with some zucchini you can have that or if you’re feeling ground turkey with broccoli and sweet potatoes then that’s an option!

I use this approach when I feel like I have the time to prepare my meals and don’t have a bunch of things going on during the week. I also use the buffet style approach if I feel like my meals have been repetitive and I’m getting sick of it! This allows me to use different varieties and mix and match to what I’m really feeling will satisfy me!

Fully prepped meals- another great approach to having food ready for the week! For this technique, you make all of the food and then portion each individual meal for the week. This looks different for everyone! Portion sizes will be different, food mixing and matching will be different, and how you decide to cook the food will be different.

I use this approach most often. I eat the same meals quite a bit week to week but below are examples of what it may look like!

okay in all honesty… I eat the same breakfast every morning and usually prep it the night before!

Each week I usually prep my salads for lunches and change the protein and dressing each day so I don’t get sick of them! My loaded salads consist of: handful of spinach, carrots, cucumber, orange and yellow bell pepper, broccoli sprouts, chicken/salmon/boiled egg, either pumpkin seeds or croutons. The dressing is most likely Tessemae brand honey poppyseed, avocado ranch, caesar, or Italian blend. Yum! Salads are my favorite, not because they make you skinny but because they make a person feel good with all of the nutrients!

This girl LOVES her veggies, always have and always will! My afternoon snack consists of veggies with hummus/peanut butter or home made trail mix!

Meal prepping can be fun and easy! Part of the fun for me is seeing how pretty I can make my meals. Try either of these approaches and check out my other blog post: Tips to Successful Meal Prep!
